The third edition of the I.DoT project is about to launch in New York. The undisputed cultural capital of the western world will host the exhibition during the ICFF fair. The new I.DoT 2006-2007 will take up residence at the TUNNEL @ THE WATERFRONT. I.DoT will transform the Tunnel into a large Temporary Museum Gallery where the American public will have an opportunity to appreciate the quality of the latest Italian offerings, a chance to see some of the latest trends unveiled at this year’s Milan-Salone del Mobile.

I.DoT project

I.DoT è un progetto dedicato alla promozione della cultura del progetto italiana. Come indicato dal grande designer Gaetano Pesce, il sistema design non si limita al designer e al suo progetto, il design è al giorno d’oggi un mezzo d’espressione artistica completo, in quanto capace di raccontare e trasmettere le diverse esperienze e competenze coinvolte nel processo creativo.
Il sistema progetto-produzione-diffusione trova nel design italiano l’apice del suo sviluppo, ed è proprio questo che la mostra I.DoT vuole presentare. Attraverso l’esposizione delle ultime novità della produzione italiana è possibile scoprire le nuove tendenze del Made in Italy, tendenze sempre più difficili da cogliere e distinguere in un panorama che fa della contaminazione stilistica e culturale la propria ragion d’essere.
Designer provenienti da tutto il mondo trovano in Italia il terreno ideale per coltivare le loro idee, perché il sistema e l’apertura delle aziende italiane non raggiunge pari al mondo. La scelta di investire ingenti risorse in ricerca e sviluppo, innovazione tecnologica e ricerca sui materiali, è stata infine premiata, creando un sistema capace di auto-promuoversi. Accanto alle grandi aziende storiche del design, compaiono ora altre realtà produttive, forti di esser nate nel centro di un sistema già ampiamente sviluppato. Anche queste aziende sono ora in grado di presentare, tramite I.DoT le loro novità, assieme all’eccellenza del Made in Italy.

I.DoT SELECTION

Following a lengthy process researching and cataloguing thousands of products, the prestigious International Critical Selection Committees have created two collections which embody the two driving forces in Italian design. I.DoT_New Lines in Italian Design brings together the latest offerings from the world of Italian Contemporary Design. ID_CS the Roots and the Avant-garde draws together a special selection of contemporary pieces inspired by classic forms that use the Italian tradition of craftsmanship as a point of departure for new design. Within the large exhibition on show there are also the 10 winning designs of the Almerico de Angelis Young Designers’ Award. This prize is open to Italian designers under 35 years of age and named in memory of the Director of Modo Magazine, a professor at Milan Politecnico and one of the founding fathers of the I.DoT project. Almerico de Angelis was a man who always showed a keen interest in the creativity and enthusiasm of emerging designers.

L'ALLESTIMENTO

The design for the exhibition has been created by two of the leading names in Italian Design: Denis Santachiara has developed a playful ambience for the young and contemporary sections of the exhibition, while the spaces dedicated to the Classic Selection are home to the evocative designs of Paola Navone.
