LOOM

LOOM
designed by Franco Poli for Matteo Grassi, 2006

Armchair in leather, structure in stainless steel.
A play on interlaced leather, full and empty and a line of refined rigour characterises this armchair. The research on the potentiality of one of the most antique materials that man possesses reveals a family of “surface patterns” from the incredible properties. The leather, of strong thickness, is cut with a machine of new technological conception and is sewn and refined by hand.

ALIANTE

ALIANTE
designed by Piero Esposito for Targa Italia, 2003

Table with solid oak (or veneered/lacquered/crystal) top, legs in satin-polished steel.
The archetype of the trestle table is enriched with this new version that enhances the original idea with new technical functions and new materials. In Aliante, the upper crossbar consists of the table top and the inclined legs are made of two metal frames. With this system, the table is stabilized thanks to its own weight and thanks to the table top itself being "clamped" by the leg frame.

LOVEME

LOVEME
designed by Maurizio Duranti for Ib Rubinetterie, 2005

Collection of taps and fitting in steel.
Mixing taps with a straight jet of water and no aerator evoke something natural, like water flowing in all its transparency and natural consistency. The beauty of this series lies in having conceived it without gimmicks, but as simple taps, of average dimensions, that can be installed on any washbasin to immediately enhance any style of bathroom.

APPLE

APPLE
designed by Dodo Arslan for Sphaus, 2004

Armchair. Polyurethane foam structure, steel frame, cloth or leather upholstery.
Two unusual details contribute to the extraordinary comfort of Apple: first of all the fact that the armchair, thanks to a system of hinges, gently embraces the “settee” when prompted by his or her weight and, secondly because it is a rocking chair.

MAGIC

MAGIC
designed by Adriani & Rossi for Elmar, 2004

Kitchen island in steel with pull-out table in laminate or steel and veneer.
This is an exemplary product for the attention to detail and the versatility of a system that can be adapted to any size kitchen. A single block, all in steel, contains a pull-out table that from a fixed external protrusion can be extracted to the desired length. The island is finished on all four sides and can be customized to meet different needs - even with the cook top installed. It can be used as an island or a peninsula.

bincan

BINCAN
designed by Naoto Fukasawa for Danese, 2005

Plastic wastebasket; clothes rack, small tables, umbrella stand, and ashtray in metal.
Bincan components respond perfectly to all types of organizational requirements. The wastebasket is the foundation of this functional and decorative system from which the different accessories were developed: a clothes rack, an umbrella stand, three small tables of different heights, a pocket-emptier/ ashtray, a lamp and a partition system, and all can be integrated or interchanged. The pure and essential line of the system makes it suitable for any type of environment, whether public or private. It is a system destined to be developed into various typologies of products.

bird

BIRD
designed by David Lewis for Mizar, 2006

A modular illumination system for T5 fluorescent lamps. Lamp body in anodized extruded aluminum, details and finish in steel painted with metallic paint or mica-based red.
In addition to the meticulous attention the designer paid to details, the main objective was to achieve an extraordinarily esthetic structure in only 56 mm of thickness with four T5 light bulbs that allow the fixture to be rated as a dual emission system for all practical purposes. It is an extremely technical product, but at the same time attractive and relaxing thanks to the introduction of chromatic elements on the top and the use of a luminous band to generate a particular effect on the lower surface of the structure.

CREVASSE

CREVASSE
designed by Zaha Hadid for Alessi, 2005

Vase in stainless steel 18/10.
After participating on the “Tea & Coffee Towers” project, the working relationship with Zaha Hadid intensified, and the latest addition to Alessi’s collection is this sculpture-esque vase. Its outline slices through space with the force of an arctic crevasse. The twisted walls accentuate the verticality and the tension in the form is embodied in a perfect composition. It takes time for the viewer to get accustomed to the vase, as though gazing at the reflection of a perpetual snowfall.

not-Ff

NOT fF
designed by Enzo Eusebi - Nothing Studio for Berloni, 2004

Concept-kitchen in carbon fibres.
NOT for Food wants to re-examine the possibilities formal and programmatic linked to the use of the entire kitchen space for a model of the contemporary family. A kitchen that cannot be conceived only in terms of spaces but, necessarily, by means of a more widespread concept, in a position to include the social aspects that arise from the characteristics of a place that always leans more towards not closing inside the space of the house. The project, that integrates formal and technological innovation, is realised in advanced composite materials.

opus

OPUS INCERTUM
designed by Sean Yoo - APT 5 Design for Casamania By Frezza, 2005

Display case/bookcase in expanded polypropylene.
The uses for this object are countless, but not always obvious at first glance, which tends to distract the mind towards other contexts. The indefinite lines of the ancient Roman masonry technique are re-elaborated in the style, in the materials, and in the functions of a modern object. Whatever the selected function may be, this product is particularly suited to unstructured environments, as the free-style composition of its elements challenges any sense of pre-existing order.

FIORdiLOTO

FIOR DI LOTO
designed by Luciano Dalmonego for Mazzali, 2004

Bed in plywood and solid wood; oak veneer, water-based paint.
The geometry of the bed may be modified to suit the moment, while the figure of the bed may be modified by a manual movement that allows the surface to be rotated 360 degrees. The industrial project focused mostly on aspects related to the concept of sustainable development and respect for personal well-being that constitute the most relevant strong point of the business strategy. To this view, product lifespan, low environmental impact, and low solvent emissions are the tenets that dictated development.

parrot

PARROT
designed by Alessandro Mendini and Annalisa Margarini for Alessi, 2005.

Sommelier corkscrew in aluminium.
It is common practice for a sommelier to take his corkscrew out of his pocket… but if Parrot were to appear in the skilful hands of a steward, diners would surely be pleasantly surprised. fontana

LA FONTANA
designed by Sandro Meneghello & Marco Paolelli for Art Ceram, 2006

Column system in structural polymer, with ceramic or Vetro Ghiaccio ® wash basins
A one-off structure that balances the weight of its parts and finds equilibrium in the intersection of a vertical matrix and a horizontal one. An apparent conflict that resolves in an elegant blend of curves and straight lines. The design was inspired by an intention to integrate the key elements of a bathroom - the washbasin, the taps, a shelf surface, cabinet, mirror, and light – into a single self-supporting structure. The system comprises a column and semi-column, a cabinet with a “mirror” of reflecting sheet metal with 99% albedo, and an indirect lighting system.
